Canon releases three new lenses

Accompanying the new DSLRs launched yesterday, Canon has announced three new lenses in its EF and EF-S ranges. The first is a mark II version of its EF 14mm f/2.8L USM lens. The lens has been redesigned to include aspherical and UD elements and boasts a 114o angle of view. Other features include: * Latest Ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) for fast and near silent auto focus with excellent holding torque * Full-time manual focus override via a large rubber ring that does not rotate during auto focus * Super Spectra coatings and optimised lens element shaping to suppress flare and ghosting * Large circular aperture diaphragm for good background bokeh and 'removal' of distracting backgrounds at wide apertures In its EF-S range, two lenses have been announced. The EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS and EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS are the first lenses within the range to incorporate a four-stop Image Stabiliser. Both feature Super Spectra Coating to reduce the effects of ghosting and flare and incorporate a circular aperture for more appealing background blur. The 18-55mm lens will be available in October, though a release date for the 55-250mm has yet to be confirmed.
